Marvel is Sweet, Get Over It!

It all started in 2008, the movie that shocked everyone… Iron Man. By then of course no one knew the magnitude of the Marvel Universe and figured “a old washed up Robert Downy Jr fresh out of rehab?” it was written off before even being released. Personally, even my 12 year old self thought wow a dude flying around in a metal suit how lame. Well if I could go back and kick my own pre teen ass I would, Iron Man was fucking sweet and deserves all the respect. I’m not trying to have this blog be all Iron man so I’ll quit fan girling and move on.
So with the official start of the MCU in Iron Man and the smashing success it was, raking in over half a BILLION dollars (a fuck ton back then), came a few short comings that threatened the MCU as we know it today. First came The Incredible Hulk which almost lost the MCU money followed by the first Captain America and the first Thor movie. Now I personally love these movies but from a financial standpoint Marvel almost spent more money than what the box office made if you were to add all of these up. These shortcomings could not stop the sweetness of the MCU... Nothing would stand in Marvels way, you think marvel is going to make the same mistake twice? Think again.

I don’t know about you but when I first saw the trailer for the first Avengers movie I lost my shit, I could not wait for this movie. The first Avengers movie cemented Marvel in the category of basically untouchable. To this day I have not met a person that does not enjoy this movie (a sane, normal person at least). Fast forward a few years to when Thanos is introduced into the MCU, for those psychopaths who don’t know who Thanos was, he was the bad guy behind basically everything leading up to Avengers Infinity War.

Now I challenge the reader of this blog to find a better story arc that ties in perfectly over 20 movies storylines into a two part movie. You can try but you will fail, Harry Potter does a shitty job with just a few movies, don’t even get me started on the fast and furious franchise that is complete dog shit. The DC universe absolutely blows and completely flopped with Justice League (Christian Bales Batman was sweet but they recast Batman like 40 times after him) you just can’t compete with the first 3 phases of the MCU.
*See the below chart*

Almost a decade and a half later since Iron Man, Marvel still pumps out TV shows that rank very high & of course movies that introduce new MCU characters. Just look at Spider Man No Way Home released last year that almost brought in a Billion domestically & 2 billion internationally, there’s no stopping the MCU. Thor Love & Thunder opening weekend brought in $302M Worldwide.
In conclusion, you simply can’t write off super hero movies as being lame, yes you can nit pick and say the some of the Disney plus Marvel shows made for kids like the Ms. Marvel series is lame and I completely agree but it’s made for younglings not adults. If you hate superhero movies still after this then you better buckle up for a onslaught of Marvel movies taking number one in the box office.
