If I took this opinion to twitter I would undoubtedly be called a racist. I would also probably get a few people who say I was stupid and that the movie just went over my head.
But both of those things could not be further from the truth. The movie was just not up to par.
I was also very excited to see this movie as a big time horror fan. Get Out was awesome, Us was good, and I figured I was in for more of the same here with another Jordan Peele movie.
But I was incorrect. This movie had me checking my phone every 5 min to see how much time was left, I even debated asking the teenager at the ticket booth for a refund after. On top of that, there was maybe 10 minutes total that you could describe as horror, the rest was just sci-fi.
The story at its roots is about a family living on a ranch that experiences some “paranormal activity” and tries to get rich by recording a video of it. I will give Peele some credit on originality but my kudos ends there.
The acting was awesome, the CGI was great, Jordan Peele just wrote a shit movie.
You can tell there is some symbolism throughout the film as there are with all his movies. I interpreted it as Peele’s way of showing how Hollywood doesn't care about everyone equally, but why the fuck do I care about the way Hollywood treats people?
Just because something has a deeper meaning doesn’t make it good. There's plenty of good horror movies with symbolism to social issues (Parasite, The Platform, The Shining,The invisible man) and obviously Peele’s Get Out. But this one was just yuck.
The people who liked this movie are the same ones who look at this and say its art. The ones whose front yards have a "no turnaround" sign in them. The ones who drive Hybrid cars and tell you that you’re a piece of shit because you don’t. That's who likes this movie.

Now I leave you with this: How long is Jordan Peele's leash? Will he be able to release another shitty movie that everyone eats up mostly because they feel obligated to or will people speak their mind if his next movie also sucks? When Scorcese made The Irishman people were certainly not shy about it sucking.
The fact this is over 80% on Rotten Tomatoes should anger working class people who get critiqued over little things at their job.
Jordan Peele got a free pass to make a shitty movie simply because of his name, will he get another?
