Instant Reaction: Baker Mayfield to the Panthers

The Browns is truly the Browns. They go off and sign alleged rapist Deshaun Watson after Baker Mayfield led them to the playoffs for the first time since the NFL actually started to matter just to ship him to Carolina for a measly 5th round pick AND the Browns in fact still are paying him over half the salary he is owed.

If the NFL truly cares about women Deshaun Watson will not play in 2022/23 season and possibly the 23/24 season which leaves the Browns with known journeyman Jacoby Brissett to lead the team for the foreseeable future. After a promising start to the Baker era and what looked to be a new age of relevant Browns they go right back to where they belong.

Panthers

This move does not make sense for the Panthers but it also does make sense. They go into next season with Baker, Sam Darnold and Matt Coral in the QB room so I guess Baker is the best? Overall I don't think this serves as improvement for the Panthers next season and it most definitely will not save Matt Rhule's job, but the NFC South is weak minus the Bucs so who knows. The move was not sitting well with WR2 Robby Anderson when the news broke the Panthers were initially interested in Baker.

Well the NFL is king and we knew news was going to break about the Browns whether it was Deshaun or Baker and we got Baker. I said it earlier and I will keep saying it, THE BROWNS IS THE BROWNS. Best of luck to Baker in Carolina!
